Theproposed study must be scientifically meritorious, be feasible within the timeand resources available, hold promise of local benefit, and suggest a line ofinquiry that can continue beyond the terms of this initial investment. The CAIANDTR will assist investigators in establishing theacademic/community partnerships necessary to undertake funded projects. Thisfunding opportunity provides two (2) years of support, at $25,000 per year, toeither new investigators in the process of establishing careers in diabetesprevention and/or treatment research or mid-career scientists seeking toredirect their efforts to translational research consistent with our mission.Successful applicants will be expected to pursue the research in question amongan American Indian or Alaska Native community for whom such work is of highpriority. The Women’s College Hospital Institute for Health System Solutions and Virtual Care Health will evaluate the results of the pilot, which runs until March 2017. The average level of blood glucose will be measured at pilot start, at three months and at six months.
